After planning for the past six months, I am finally about to leave for Shanghai! On Monday morning, I will be dropped off at the Indianapolis airport and from there begin about 30 hours of travel. I am flying to Chicago and then to Helsinki, Finland, and then finally to Shanghai. There is still a lot of packing and organization that needs to happen before I leave though! I am very excited, but also anxious, since I do not speak any Chinese yet. While I am there, I will be taking two classes: 5 credits of beginning Chinese and 3 credits of a Chinese culture class. My specific program only has 8 participants, so I am sure that we will receive a lot of support in our classes and from the program itself. Luckily, we have an orientation when we arrive at Fudan. We will be introduced to the university, the city, and our professors as well as learn how to order food, ride the subway, and other necessary skills. I will try to update this blog every two to three days for the next nine weeks. I look forward to this great adventure and I hope that you enjoy sharing in my experiences!
